What is a vessel? A ship? Yes, but it's also "a hollow container, especially one used to hold liquid, such as a bowl..." says the Oxford Dictionary.
Join this workshop to find out the different methods to create all types of beautiful, elegant, and functional vessels. Explore your imagination and create something into reality. Work with clay by learning two clay building techniques, become familiar with this material and how it moves and bends to bring your vision to fruition. Play around with texture, prints, and stamps, and learn to glaze your artwork. Thus, creating seamless, well-crafted vessels made by you. Each vessel has a max height of 1 ft (12 inches). All projects are fired in a kiln on our premises, and you will be able to take your artwork home once fired.
Schedule:
- Thursday, April 25th, 2024: 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Practice and create a pinch-pot vessel
- Thursday, May 2nd, 2024: 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Practice and create a slab vessel
- Thursday, May 9th, 2024: 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Learn about glazing and glaze your vessels
Class meets for 3 sessions for 2 hours each. Students will go home with two elegant vessels and two practice ceramic pieces. All materials and firing are included. Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind using for art and bring a small towel (optional). No previous experience required.
