About the event
Learn the basics of making a clay mask by hand. Use different techniques, such as pinch pot, coil, and slab to create a mask that represents you as an individual or create your own human-like face. Learn ways to build a face without using chunks of clay, explore the human anatomy, and transform it into your own being. Work with tools to create texture and use simple shapes to create eyes, nose, and mouth. Learn to make a base out of newspaper to support your mask as you work. This is an explorative experience, no two masks will look the same. Enjoy working on one art piece and allow all your creative juices to flow.
Schedule:
- Session 1: Building in Clay
- Session 2: Glaze Ceramic Masks
All techniques will be fully explained and practiced. You don't need any previous ceramic experience.
All beginner and experienced potters are welcome! Registration fee includes materials and firing. All firing is done in-house. Please bring a small hand towel with you to class.
